Let’s get you watching

Pick what you’re setting up and we’ll walk you through it, one step at a time.

Your browser has JavaScript switched off, so here is the whole guide at once — every step for every device.

What are you setting up?

Install Downloader by AFTVnews on your TV

Open the Play Store on your TV, search for Downloader, and install the free one with this orange icon.

I can’t find it

Several apps are called Downloader. You want the one by AFTVnews — the orange square above. If your TV has no Play Store, it may not be an Android TV; message us and we’ll help.

Enter this code and press Go

Open Downloader. Select the wide box at the top of the screen, type the code, then press Go.

The download takes a few seconds.

Nothing downloaded

Check every digit — a single wrong number gives an error. Make sure the TV is online, then press Go again.

Allow the install — just this once

Your TV will say it isn’t allowed to install apps from Downloader. That’s normal. Choose Settings, switch the toggle on, then press Back.

This looks like an error

It isn’t — Android asks this the first time any app installs another. You only ever do it once, and only for Downloader.

Press Install, then Open

When it finishes, choose Install and wait a moment. Then choose Open to start WePlay.

I closed it by mistake

No problem — WePlay is installed. Find it among your TV’s apps and open it from there.

Point your phone’s camera at the QR code on the TV and follow the link — the TV signs itself in, with no typing at all.

Prefer to type? Enter the same username and password you use on WePlay.

My phone won’t scan it

Open your phone’s camera and hold it steady about 30cm from the screen. If nothing happens, just type your username and password on the TV instead.

You’re all set

WePlay is ready on your TV. Everything you watch keeps your place across your other devices too.

Download the app

Tap the button below on the phone or tablet you want to watch on.

Download WePlay

Reading this on a computer? Point your phone’s camera at this code and the download starts on the phone instead.

Nothing happens when I scan

Open the Camera app, hold it steady over the code, and tap the link that appears at the top. On some phones you may need to turn on QR codes in Camera settings first.

Allow the install

Your phone may ask whether to allow installing apps from your browser. Switch it on and go back — you only do this once.

Then tap Install, and Open.

I don’t see the file

Open your Downloads and tap the WePlay file to start installing.

Sign in and watch

Open WePlay and enter your username and password — the same ones you use everywhere else.

You’re all set

WePlay is on your phone. Your place is kept across every device you sign in on.

Open WePlay in Safari

Tap the button below. It must be Safari — Chrome on iPhone can’t add apps to your home screen.

Open WePlay

Reading this on a computer? Point your iPhone’s camera at this code — it opens WePlay in Safari, which is exactly where you need to be.

Nothing happens when I scan

Open the Camera app, hold it steady over the code, and tap the banner that appears at the top of the screen.

Tap Share, then Add to Home Screen

At the bottom of Safari, tap the Share button — the square with an arrow pointing up. Scroll down the list and choose Add to Home Screen.

I can’t find Share

It sits in the bar at the bottom of Safari. If the bar is hidden, scroll up slightly and it reappears.

Sign in and watch

WePlay is now on your home screen and opens full-screen, like any other app. Open it and sign in with your username and password.

You’re all set

WePlay is on your home screen. Your place is kept across every device you sign in on.

Nothing to install

WePlay runs in any browser. Open it and sign in with your username and password.

Open WePlay
Can I have it as an app?

Yes — in Chrome or Edge, click the install icon at the right of the address bar. In Safari, choose File then Add to Dock.

You’re all set

Your place is kept across every device you sign in on.
